Nickel based coatings are widely used in numerous applications in the chemical and petroleum industries, due to their mechanicalproperties and corrosion resistance. The aim of the present work was the studied the influence of a post heat treatment on corrosionresistance of coatings of NiCrBSi COLMONOY 88® alloy with different amounts of WC-12%Co commercial powders on 1020 AISIsteel substrate using high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) process. Microstructural characteristics of the coatings were evaluated employingOptical Microscopy coupled with image analysis and SEM with EDS microanalysis. The coatings corrosion resistance was evaluatedusing anodic Potentiodynamic Polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The results have shown thatthe corrosion resistance of the coating-substrate system decreased with the increase of the WC-12%Co amount in the powder mixture, obtaining the worst results for the mixture with 70% of WC-12Co. The coatings corrosion resistance improved substantially with the postheat treatment.Downloads
