Abstract

In the he present work the design of 3D scaffolds of hydroxyapatite with different porosities for applications in bone implants is studied through the variation of some sintering parameters such as time, temperature and porosifiier content. Also the relationship between the microstructure obtained for each codition and their mechanical properties was studied. The chemical and structural characterization was carried out by infrared spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction, while the physical and morphological characterization of the samples was performed by liquid immersion compression test and scanning electron microscopy, respectively, with the aim of establishing a correlation between microstructure, mechanical properties and porosity.
