Abstract

This study shows the high-temperature corrosion resistance of bismuth titanate (BixTiyOz)  amorphous thin films deposited by rf sputtering technique. The corrosion test at high temperature were made with 100 cycles in air atmosphere at 600 °C, each cycle consisting 1 hour of heating and 1 hour of cooling. The results of mass loss and corrosion products were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed a good corrosion resistance up to 60 thermal cycles where a noticeable degradation of the coating was observed.
